The Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance is a nationally accredited health industry course which enables you to develop the skills and knowledge to work in a variety of health care environments as an Allied Health Assistant.

After completing this qualification, you will be able to provide assistance to allied health professionals under predetermined guidelines. Depending on the setting, work may include following treatment plans for therapeutic interventions and/or conducting programs under the regular direct, indirect or remote supervision of an allied health professional.

Applicant must:

Be 18 years of age or over

Attend a course information session at Mayfield Education

Complete a pre-course assessment including a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LNN) robot on site at Mayfield Education and a pre-training interview

Have basic computer skills and access to a personal computer device including internet to enable connectivity with learning resources.

Have COVID 19 vaccination history

To obtain the full HLT33015 – Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance qualification, students must satisfactorily complete Eleven (11) units of competency and 80 hours of clinical placement in a therapeutic workplace. The course is made up of Eight (8) core units and three (3) elective units.

  • CHCCOM005 – Communicate and work in health or community services
  • CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people
  • HLTAAP001 – Recognise healthy body systems
  • HLTAHA001 – Assist with an allied health program
  • HLTINF001 – Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • HLTWHS001 – Participate in workplace health and safety
  • BSBMED301 – Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately
Electives
  • BSBPEF301 – Organise Personal work priorities
  • CHCCCS020 – Respond effectively to behaviours of concern
  • CHCCCS002 – Assist with movement

The classes and workshops are run 1 day/week during the term (usually Wednesday afternoons).

The course takes 2 years.

On some days in the course you will also be attending excursions and undertaking SWL (structured workplace learning). This is practical experience in a real health care setting. This is organised by Mayfield Education and your school.

Nationally Recognised Certificate and Transcript of Results showing completion of full Certificate HLT33015 – Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance qualification.

If the full course is not completed, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for any units where competency has been attained.
