- Work Placement: 120 hrs (60% of this work must be carried out in an allied health workplace and the remaining 40% may be carried out in a simulated environment)

This unit will provide the participants with the skills and knowledge required to assist with basic foot care, including skin and nail care and applying dressings, padding and cushioning under the direct, indirect or remote supervision of a registered podiatrist.

Course Details
Entry Criteria
- Employed as a healthcare worker.
- Health care workers with an interest in foot care and podiatry.
- Health workers who care for the elderly and people with a disability.
- Those with high-risk feet who seek to prevent complications from sports and other injuries.
- Health care worker who can perform the activities outlined in the performance criteria of this unit during a period of at least 120 hours of work.
Duration
4 to 6 weeks
Study Mode
This course is conducted by Registered Podiatrists. The course is designed to incorporate a blended delivery model.
- Blended mode of study
- 2 full days of face-to-face workshop. Workshops run from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
- Online self-directed learning (4 – 6 weeks)
- Undertake relevant assessment tasks.
- Perform the activities outlined in the performance criteria of this unit during a period of at least 120 hours of allied health assistance work. At least 60% of this work must be carried out in an allied health workplace. The remaining 40% may be carried out in a simulated environment, if an allied health workplace is unavailable.
During this training program participant will learn about:
- Receiving delegation and gathering information.
- Preparing for basic foot care.
- Performing basic foot care.
- Applying padding and cushioning prescribed by the supervising podiatrist.
- Complying with supervisory requirements
- Cleaning and storing equipment.
- Relevant documentation
This course can be delivered at your work site subject to the number of participants.

- 14 & 15 – orientation on Thursday 10 July at 3pm

Award
